Autm for Slack
Using Autm with your Slack workspace

Autm is an Operational Intelligence platform. It connects the systems your business runs on, remembers what matters, and helps your team take action. Autm for Slack puts your Autm assistant in the conversations where your team already works, so you can ask questions, get answers and hand off tasks without leaving Slack.

This page explains how to add Autm to Slack, what it does once it's there, how your Slack data is handled, and how to remove it.

What Autm does for your team in Slack

Deadlines, commitments and decisions get made in chat and then get lost in it. Autm for Slack helps you keep hold of them. Add Autm to a channel and it picks up the information that matters for running your business, then uses it to answer questions and support your follow-up work. Ask in plain English, in a channel or a direct message, and Autm replies in the conversation.

How Autm works in Slack

  • Autm appears in your workspace as its own member. Anything it posts comes from Autm, never from a person.

  • Channels: Add Autm to a channel with /invite @Autm. Autm only reads channels it has been added to, and it reads new messages posted from the moment it joins. It does not read earlier history.

  • Mentions: Mention @Autm in a channel or thread to ask a question or request an action.

  • Direct messages: Message Autm directly to ask something privately.

Try asking:

  • "What have we committed to this week?"

  • "Summarise what was agreed in this channel."

  • "What did we decide about the website launch?"

If you have connected other tools to Autm, such as your calendar or task manager, Autm can use them to act on what it finds.

Adding Autm to Slack

  1. Log in to your Autm account at app.autm.ai. If you don't have one yet, you can create one for free.

  2. Go to Connections in the sidebar.

  3. Find Slack in the list of available integrations and click Connect.

  4. You will be redirected to Slack. Choose the workspace you want to add Autm to and log in if prompted.

  5. Review the permissions Autm is requesting and click Allow.

  6. You will be redirected back to Autm, where Slack will appear as a connected integration.

If your workspace requires admin approval for new apps, Slack will send a request to an admin and you can finish connecting once it's approved.

The connection uses OAuth 2.0. Autm never stores your Slack password. Access is granted through a secure token that you can revoke at any time.

After you connect

Slack is now connected. To get started:

  1. Add Autm to a channel with /invite @Autm.

  2. Mention @Autm with a question or request, or send it a direct message.

  3. Ask it what it has picked up so far, such as "What deadlines have come up in this channel?"

If you need help at any point, email support@autm.ai.

How Autm uses and stores Slack data

Autm does not keep copies or backups of your Slack messages. It picks out the information that matters, such as deadlines and commitments, and saves that to your organisation's Autm memory, where it helps build a knowledge graph of the people, projects and commitments your team works with. This works in the same way as Autm's handling of meeting transcripts.

  • Autm uses Slack data only to provide and operate the service. We do not sell Slack data or use it for advertising.

  • We do not train our own or third-party AI models on Slack data, and we do not permit our AI providers to.

  • Information Autm has learned from Slack is kept while your Autm account is active. Disconnecting Slack stops Autm reading your workspace straight away, but it does not by itself delete what Autm has already learned. That information is deleted within 30 days of confirmed account or workspace deletion, as set out in our Data Retention Policy.

  • To request access to your data or earlier deletion, email support@autm.ai.

Full details are in our Privacy Policy, Data Retention Policy and Data Processing Agreement.

About AI in Autm for Slack

Autm uses large language models to understand your requests and generate responses. Autm's customer data is hosted in Microsoft Azure in the United Kingdom, and AI processing takes place within the European Union.

AI-generated answers, summaries and drafts can sometimes be inaccurate or incomplete, so please check anything important before you rely on it. Autm is designed to support human judgement and accountability.

Pricing

Autm for Slack is available from the day you start with Autm. Your account begins with a set number of free trial credits. Once you have used them, you can move to a paid plan to keep going. See our pricing page for plan details.

Removing Autm from Slack

You can disconnect Slack from Autm at any time:

  1. Go to Connections in your Autm sidebar.

  2. Find Slack in your list of connected integrations.

  3. Click Disconnect.

  4. Your Slack access token will be revoked and removed from Autm immediately.

Slack workspace admins can also remove Autm directly from Slack:

  1. Open Manage apps in your Slack workspace.

  2. Find Autm in your installed apps.

  3. Select Remove App.

Either method fully removes Autm's access to your Slack workspace. Information Autm has already learned is handled as described in "How Autm uses and stores Slack data" above.
